YOU ARE ENOUGH
We all have to learn to feel good about ourselves and get rid of the negative talk. We have to live life before it’s too late and that means pushing through the negative to get to the positive. We HAVE to learn that WE ARE GOOD ENOUGH. We need to stop doubting ourselves and stop the negative talk. We don’t need to compare or compete with others. The goal is to do your best and not beat yourself up. If you can do this, you will reach new heights.
Once I watched this Dove commercial. There were two lines setup for people to enter into a building. Above one line it read, “Beautiful”. Above the other line, it read “Average”. Sadly, the line that was walked through the most was the “Average” line. Are you kidding me? What? No. We need to stop this. We are not average. If you are reading this, you are beautiful, you are handsome, you have been created for greatness. Believe this.
I want to help you live life before its’ too late. I don’t want you spiraling. Negative self-talk starts to build and break you down. It creates a “give up” mentality. Please listen to me. Just because it’s hard now doesn’t mean it will be hard forever. You need to press forward, and if you need help, call for help…reach out. You have great things ahead. Believe it! A bad day doesn’t mean a bad life or a bad year, there’s always light that peeks through the darkness.
You may be nodding your head while you’re reading this and thinking, “Coach Dar is right. I need to stop beating myself up, but how do I do that?” I’m glad you’re thinking this way because that means you’re getting yourself in gear to make a change.
I have three steps to help you get that restart that we all need. You have to begin with a Reset, then Refocus and finally Reframe so that you can Restart.
What do each of these mean and how do you go about doing these things? Let’s take a look.
1. Reset – Pause and stop doubting yourself. If you’re feeling down, and you’re doubting yourself, make today the reset. Stop the negative talk. Don’t beat yourself up with lies. If there’s an area that you need to work on, you have got to reset so you can start fresh. Now is the perfect time to do this.
2. Refocus – Examine how you’re looking at things. Look at how your time is being spent. Evaluate what is important. If spending more time with someone is important to you, but you’re not doing it. Refocus on what you want to do and see it in a different light. See it as possible.
3. Reframe – Believe in yourself. Retell your story. Your past doesn’t define you. You are amazing. You are victorious. You have to reframe how you are seeing things. Stop with the guilt. We feel guilty about everything. We don’t exercise enough. We’re not busy enough. We’re not making enough money.
Stop… Reset. Refocus. Reframe so that you can Restart. Put positive affirmations around you. Stop the negative talk. Stop feeling inadequate. Find a community of people that pull you up and encourage you. You are smart enough. You are talented enough. You are good enough. You are worthy enough. So enough with not feeling like you’re enough. As Brené Brown said so well, “No matter how much I get done, or is left undone, at the end of the day, I am enough.”…and so are YOU! Do what Simon Black said, “Stop wondering if you’re good enough. Know you are and start acting like it.”
I want to share this poem called:
“I Wish You Enough” "I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright. I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more. I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive. I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger. I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting. I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess. I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye." - Author Unknown
